Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier can see Nathaniel Clyne becoming England's first-choice right-back.
Le Tiz believes Clyne, 23, deserves a chance after impressing in the wins over Slovenia and Scotland.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: "He's been excellent ever since he joined Southampton, and was very good for Crystal Palace before that too.
"I thought Nathaniel's call-up was a little late in coming to be honest.
"I think he probably deserved a place in the England squad before he got it, but he's taken his chance brilliantly.
"In his first two games last week, it looked like he'd been playing international football for years.
"I think Glen Johnson might have watched the matches and thought he may have a problem getting back in the team."
