Southampton legend Le Tissier backing Oxlade-Chamberlain for Arsenal success

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier is convinced Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is destined for big things.

The Arsenal man blasted a hat-trick for England under-21s against Iceland on Thursday night as Stuart Pearce's side romped to a 3-0 win.

Le Tissier told the Sunday Mirror: "There are so few top English players available that anyone playing regularly in the Champions League and for a top Premier League side is going to be looked that - no doubt about it.

"He has already shown what a talent he is in the Champions League and that makes people sit up and take notice.

"He was only 16 when he made his debut at Southampton and he looked the part.

"He showed a lot of confidence for a boy of that age which is always a great sign. He wasn't hiding at all he was always looking to get on the ball.

"There were a few questions asked when he paid all that money for him with people asking if he could make that step up in class but he looks pretty comfortable to me."
