Southampton legend Francis Benali insists the club is in the right over their complaint against ref Mark Clattenburg.
The FA have since rejected the complaint about Clattenburg's exchange with Adam Lallana.
Benali told the Daily Echo: "Clattenburg's been at the centre of controversy for his dealings with players before and there's no smoke without fire, but I fully expected the FA to make the decision it did, they're very good at backing their own man.
"Things are said in the heat of the game but when we complained to referees they tended to defuse the situation by saying things like we weren't having the best game ourselves!
"Unfortunately Saints are just going to have to accept this now and move on."
