Southampton have submitted a bid of £15.5m to Lazio for defender Wesley Hoedt.

The 23-year old could be brought in to play alongside his countryman Virgil van Dijk, with Saints chairman Ralph Krueger insisting he would not be sold in this transfer window.

Hoedt made his debut for the Netherlands earlier this year after impressing with the Biancocelesti.

The centre-back, who moved to Rome from AZ Alkmaar in 2015, made 21 appearances Serie A appearances last season.
