Southampton goalkeeper Kelvin Davis expects Sunderland to give manager Gus Poyet time to introduce his methods.

Davis endured a troubled period at Sunderland, but reckons new boss Poyet will get a far easier ride in the North East despite being stuck in the relegation zone.

"The fans will give Poyet time," he said. "I think they understand that it is time for them to let a manager in and grow some roots and get his style of play across."
