Southampton keeper Boruc determined to make most of Poland call-up

Artur Boruc is back in the Poland squad for the first time since 2010 and he is planning to make the most of it in Dublin on Wednesday night.

The Southampton goalkeeper and his Polish teammates are preparing for their friendly with the Republic of Ireland at Aviva Stadium and he is keen to grab his chance with both hands after earning his call-up.

33-year old Boruc was involved in some controversy on a flight home from a tour of the USA a few years back and also got himself into some slight bother following his first appearance for the Saints against Tottenham last year but feels he has grown up in recent months.

"I've matured over the last few months," he told Sport. "I was determined to get back in Southampton's goal.

"I lost my place. The Tottenham game ruined my plans but that was only a one-off incident.

"I hope I've earned my call-up. I've been told I have a clean slate from the new coach (Waldemar Fornalik).

"I've grow up and matured. I always wanted to play in the Premier League, though I hoped to make it here earlier.

"Goalkeepers are usually better with age so there is still some time ahead of me."
