Southampton have joined the battle for Cardiff City skipper Steven Caulker.

Caulker can leave Cardiff after their relegation and has been linked with Liverpool and former club Tottenham.

Southampton are also monitoring developments as they seek a quality centre-half partner for Dejan Lovren.
