Southampton have told Liverpool to up their offer for Nathaniel Clyne. The Liverpool Echo says Liverpool will have to pay around £15million if they want to sign Southampton right-back Clyne.
Southampton value Clyne at around £20million and director of football Les Reed hasn't given up hope of convincing him to pen a new contract to stay on the south coast.
Liverpool then Southampton will reluctantly do business for around £15million rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2016.
If Liverpool do complete a deal for Clyne, he will be the fourth player they have bought from Saints in the space of 12 months. Last summer the Reds shelled out a total of £48million on Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert.
