Southampton fullback Luke Shaw has revealed Chelsea star Ashley Cole welcomed him warmly into the England setup last week.
It would have been only natural for the veteran to resent the youngster's arrival on the scene.
But Shaw said: "He was very supportive.
"Before I came on at half-time he just came up to me and gave me a nod and a tap on the head and said 'just enjoy this experience and have fun'.
"I wasn't surprised. Ashley has always been like that. He is always going to support whoever is playing in his position and it was great for me to hear that from such a great superstar like Ash.
"As a kid I watched him a lot and to hear that from him was great."
