Southampton fullback Nathaniel Clyne admits Tottenham's matchwinner Gareth Bale was the difference yesterday.
Saints star Clyne wasted no time joining in the praise for Bale's brilliant goal.
Clyne said: "World-class players do this when they are not playing their best. They can get back at you and score.
"We were the better team. The game-plan was always to press and not let the players have time on the ball. We started off ever so well. We created lots of chances and came at them. We had a real good go.
"I had a chance - as soon as I shot, I thought it was going in. But we have got to keep doing what we are doing.
"We are putting in the performances but not getting results.
"I am playing very well. I am a fit lad, I am enjoying my football and I am having a good year.
"The manager gives me licence to go forward and help out."
