Southampton fight back for Brighton point

Southampton fought back from 1-0 down to draw 1-1 with Brighton.

Brighton represented beatable opposition even after Glenn Murray had given them the lead, but following Jack Stephens scoring for the second game in succession and despite their dominance, the winning goal Southampton so desperately needed did not arrive.

Southampton remain in the relegation zone after equalling their longest ever winless run in the Premier League, which now stands at 12 games.

Murray took his season's tally to nine after Wesley Hoedt had brought down Solly March after 14 minutes. The striker also had the honour of scoring Brighton's 200th goal in the top flight.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg hit the crossbar for Southampton in the first half after charging down a clearance from goalkeeper Mat Ryan.
