Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is eyeing Southampton defender Jose Font.
The highly-rated Portuguese defender could be snapped up for as little as £1.5million, says The Sun.
Fonte, 26, stands to double his money from around £9,000 a week to £18,000 if he makes the leap from League One to the Prem during next month's transfer window.
Pardew signed Fonte for Saints from Crystal Palace last January.
But he has always believed the centre-back is capable of playing at the highest level in England.
