Southampton made it 20 home wins on the bounce with a 3-0 win over South Coast rivals Brighton. The Saints are now five points clear of second-placed West Ham.
"That's probably as poor as we've played this season in the first half," said Saints boss Nigel Adkins.
"But great credit to the players, we adapted our shape and created a goal. Frazer puts a great ball in and Rickie gets the goal.
"How they haven't given five penalties I don't know, but maybe one that was given may have been outside the box.
"I haven't seen the penalty. There were a lot of things going on but the fact of the matter is Rickie Lambert scored a very good goal for the first one, we kept our discipline and got a good victory."
