Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc has been cleared of wrongdoing after defeat to Tottenham.

Boruc has escaped punishment for allegedly throwing a water bottle at fans during Sunday's defeat by Tottenham.

Boruc was blamed by Saints fans at the Chapel End of St Mary's for making a crucial mistake, leading to Spurs' second goal.

Fans claimed Boruc swore at and argued with them as play resumed after Clint Dempsey's goal.

But having studied video evidence of the 39th-minute incident club officials decided Boruc has no case to answer.
