Southampton are chasing Inter Milan midfielder McDonald Mariga.
Mariga is the brother of Saints midfielder Victor Wanyama.
The Mirror says Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino is plotting a January swoop for the 26-year-old, who plays alongside his younger sibling for Kenya's national team.
Mariga came close to joining Manchester City in January 2010, but could not get a work permit.
