Southampton are eyeing Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Javi Garcia.

The Mirror says former Manchester City midfielder Garcia could go after Zenit St Petersburg crashed out of the Champions League and into the Europa League.

Garcia joined Andre Villas-Boas' Zenit from City for £13m last summer but may now be sacrificed.

Southampton have been sounded out about the 27-year-old Spanish international as they look to bolster their squad in January, particularly in midfield.

Garcia is also interesting Spanish clubs but is under contract with Zenit until 2019.
