Jose Fonte admits being captain of Southampton is one of the finest honours of his career.
The 31-year old Portuguese centre-back was handed the captain's armband when Adam Lallana departed for Liverpool last summer and admits he is loving the duty.
"I'm not going to lie - it's one of the greatest honours. I'm pleased the gaffer gave me the responsibility," he said on the club's official website.
"I try to do the best job I can. I'm still learning - this is my first season as captain - and I just want to help my team, help my teammates to do the best possible job and to help them with what they need."
