Southampton have sanctioned the sale of Nathaniel Clyne after agreeing Liverpool's recent bid for the defender.

It is no secret that Liverpool are courting the services of Clyne and had placed a bid of around £10million for the right-back earlier this month.

Southampton immediately rebuffed the offer but Liverpool have come back with an improved bid of £12.5million, which has now been accepted by the Saints.

Clyne will now undergo a medical with Liverpool upon his return from America, before signing a five-year deal with the club reports the Daily Echo.
