Southampton boss Claude Puel is upset for Arsene Wenger over his difficulties at Arsenal.

Speaking with SFR Sport, Puel says the criticism of Wenger has been over the top.

"I think that, for some seasons, we are too hard with him. People may need renewal and see new faces, but he is always performing, always present," said Puel.

"The regularity he has each season is quite extraordinary. He is often attacked like this, in the middle of the season, because of a bad performance and at the end of the season, nothing more, because Arsenal has still qualified for the Champions League.

"I think it will be the same this year and he will silence some detractors."
