Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino admits the St Mary's career of Billy Sharp is over.

The striker has signed for Reading on-loan.

Saints manager Pochettino was asked whether Sharp could expect to force his way into the Argentinean's set-up in the new year.

"No, not really," Pochettino told the BBC.

"He was never a player who was part of my plans. Our squad is closed, we have the right number of players so there is no coming back."
