Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino is raging over an injury picked by Luke Shaw on duty with England U21.

The left-back was handed a place in the squad to face Sweden for the first time but suffered ligament damage during training ahead of the match and was withdrawn from the squad.

Pochettino said: "Shaw has come back with problems from the national team.

"For me all my players are worthy of playing for their national teams, but it's better for Saints if they're not called up after what happened to him.

"It's natural they should have enthusiasm to play for national team, but they have to be calm and everything comes bit by bit over time."
