Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino believes Ricky Lambert can help England coach Roy Hodgson build a stronger relationship with fans.
Pochettino says that Lambert's emotional celebrations after scoring against Scotland with the first touch of his belated international career show Premier League players have a human side.
He said: "Rickie Lambert has achieved something. Because of his goal the fans feel very close to the players.
"I would go as far as to say he might be able to change the face of the national side to make the players seem much more approachable and down to earth.
"Everyone who was at Wembley or watching on TV, which must have been the entire English population, will have seen how he celebrated and how much it means to him.
"In the future we could be talking about the England team before and after Rickie Lambert."
