Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino won't rush back Virgil van Dijk.
The Mirror says Van Dijk will have to prove his commitment to Pellegrino before he is considered for selection.
Wantaway captain van Dijk took his first tentative steps towards a truce with Pellegrino by returning to first-team training this week.
The Liverpool and Chelsea target had been training alone since telling Pellegrino he wanted to leave in July and later issuing a transfer request.
But after Saints blocked his departure, van Dijk must now repair his relationship with Pellegrino, his teammates and Saints fans.
The £70 million-rated Dutchman has not played since suffering an ankle injury in January so it is unlikely he will take part in a competitive game for several weeks.
