Southampton boss Pellegrino relieved to end Van Dijk saga

Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino admits selling Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool came as a relief.

Pellegrino now hopes they can use the £75m raised wisely.

“Every single week is an opportunity to improve," said the manager.

"Without Virgil now we have to think about the future, to bring a couple targets to the squad and make it stronger.

“In six months, or one year's time, maybe we can talk about whether the sale was positive or not, but we have to wait."
