Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has urged fans to drop their expectations.

Koeman was speaking after their dismal Europa League elimination by FC Midtjylland.

He said: "The expectations are different to last year.

"People expect more but we have to be realistic with what happened and what we have lost in the last year.

"In the first season we changed a lot and after some weeks you improve and develop the players but now we have been playing more.

"We have time but it is not what I like. We have time to improve and have good training sessions and we need that.

"That is one of the reasons in the mistakes from the last few days, we have to do less mistakes and learn about it."
