Florin Gardos is in line for his Southampton debut against West Bromwich Albion today.
The Daily Echo says Saints manager Ronald Koeman insisted they will not take any risks with the 25-year-old.
He said: "Florin Gardos is training with the group, but we have to make the decision (today), can he be one of the team or not?
"We don't take a high risk in that, because he had a hamstring four or five weeks ago.
"Yes or no, it's difficult to take that decision. We will do that (today)."
