Southampton managed to land a much-needed clean sheet in they third Premier League fixture of the season on Sunday.
The Saints had drawn 2-2 with Newcastle United and lost 3-0 to Everton prior to the trip to Vicarage Road to take on Watford and were able to come away with a 0-0 draw.
After the match, manager Ronald Koeman was delighted for his new-look defence which consisted of summer signings Steven Caulker and Cedric Soares following the exits of Toby Alderweireld and Nathaniel Clyne.
"You like to win but after five goals conceded a clean sheet was something to chase," Koeman said.
"We have had to make a lot of changes defensively since the start of the season so that was a positive.
"I don't think Watford created a lot. We were too strong today for both attackers - that's a starting point because winning games are started by a good defensive organisation."
