Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has sympathy for Alan Pardew after thumping Newcastle United on Saturday.

Pardew's Toon future is in serious doubt after a dismal start to the season.

Koeman said: "I understand how difficult the situation is for them, and for their manager.

"They have qualities, they showed that as well, and for that reason it was a great result for us."
