Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is convinced by the ability of new signing Oriol Romeu.
Romeu is set to make his debut against Everton today following his £5m arrival this week.
Koeman said: "I don't call it saving players' careers because I believe in the qualities of the players.
"Sometimes they need help from me or another coach to give them the confidence to play and develop.
"I think the most important detail in all the aspects is that our name and our philosophy is developing and the development of young players.
"They believe in that and that's a good reason to come to Southampton.
"We had a good example with Ryan coming from Chelsea and what he is doing and how he is playing and the confidence and the minutes that he got I think it is always positive for that kind of player.
"They know it is difficult to get that time playing at Chelsea and they want to be part of the Premier League. Teams like Southampton are a good next option for that type of player."
