Southampton boss Adkins knows Man Utd fancy Oxlade-Chamberlain

Southampton boss Nigel Adkins knows FA Cup opponents Manchester United are eyeing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Southampton pride themselves on bringing through Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott yet equally, there is a great sense of frustration that both were sold so quickly. Chamberlain is set to be the latest.

Adkins said: "It's nice our club has helped the progression of some of these players. The long-term vision will be that some of these players will be at Southampton, long-term, at the top level. You must have that vision.

"Bale and Walcott are two talents. You take the athlete to start with and then try and develop them as a person and on the technical side.

"Alex is a young lad, level headed, great attitude. He's come through our system. We've a superb sport science team, superb medical team and great coaches to help him develop and put good sessions on to help him improve. We hope he'll keep playing with us this season."
