Southampton boss Nigel Adkins was delighted with Luke Shaw's performance in victory at QPR.
Shaw, 17, showed why he is a Manchester United and Arsenal target with an assured display.
And Adkins admitted: "We have high hopes for him. He is probably highlighted more because he is a defender.
"He has played ever so well again and we have a lot of confidence in him.
"He is only going to gain experience by playing.
"I have to have the confidence and the belief, to say, 'Right, if you are ready, then I am going to play you'."
