PSV Eindhoven have turned down a bid from Southampton for Jeremain Lens.

The 24-year old Dutch forward has been the subject of strong interest from the Saints but it has been revealed today that the offer of the Premier League returnees has been rejected.

PSV technical director Marcel Brands reportedly told Sky Sports that Southampton's proposal was not good enough with Lens' agent and uncle Sigi Lens stating it would have to be a good offer to pry him away from the Philips Stadion.

"I believe that every player with ambition has to be open to interest, provided it is good for his career," he told Eindhoven Dagblad.

"He ended last season well with PSV and is happy, and he is in contention for the Dutch national side so it would need to be a very good offer."
