Southampton will have to wait until next week and a compensation package has been agreed with Scunthorpe before Nigel Adkins can be unveiled as the new Saints boss. Saints have yet to agree a deal with the Iron so the Championship club have confirmed Adkins will still be in charge of their match against Bristol City on Saturday.
A Scunthorpe statement read: "The situation involving the vacant manager's post at Southampton has yet to be resolved and as a result the management set-up which oversaw the 3-0 triumph over Crystal Palace a fortnight ago will remain as it was for the immediate future."
Adkins has held talks with Southampton but refuses to resign from Glanford Park in order to ensure the Iron are compensated.
