Southampton and Liverpool are going head-to-head for Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland.

The Daily Mail says the Premier League duo want to take advantage of the Championship club's perilous financial situation and sign the once-capped England international for a cut-price £5million.

Birmingham admitted last week that they may be forced to sell Butland in the January transfer window.
