Southampton is keen on signing Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer.

However, Spurs' asking price of £20m has been deemed as too steep by the south-coast club.

The Austrian made only five Premier League appearances last season and has made a total of 15 since arriving from FC Koln in 2015.

Spurs purchased Wimmer for £4.3m and Southampton is reportedly looking to pay a similar price.

The Saints want to pair, rather than replace, Wimmer with their Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk.
