Southampton have made a formal move for Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland.

The Daily Mail says Brum have fielded contact from the Saints over Roy Hodgson's new recruit and expect more clubs to follow suit as the teenager's stock rises.

Hodgson was hoping to give every member of his England squad game time in the two friendlies before Euro 2012 and, if he is true to his word, the 19-year-old will be blooded at some stage against Belgium on Saturday.
