Southampton and West Ham dealt blow in pursuit of Hamburg winger Muller

Southampton and West Ham have been handed blows in their hopes of signing Hamburg attacker Nicolai Muller.

Muller enjoyed a very productive campaign for Hamburg last term and with the 29-year-old having only one-year remaining on his current deal at the club, it is widely expected that the attacker will be leaving the Bundesliga side this summer.

Southampton and West Ham United have both expressed an interest in signing Muller but as a huge blow to the duo, Hamburg chief Heribert Bruchhagen has revealed that his club have no intention of selling the German international this summer.

Bruchhagen told BILD: "We will not sell Nicolai Muller. We cannot afford to be weakened."
