Southampton ace Rodriguez: ‘Feel-good factor’ vital ahead of Liverpool cup clash

Jay Rodríguez was in a buoyant mood following Southampton's 3-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday.

The Saints were dominant at St Mary's allowing them to move up to 11th on the Premier League table courtesy of goals from James Ward-Prowse, Rodriguez himself and Dusan Tadic (penalty).

The Saints next meet Liverpool at Anfield in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg on Wednesday night, making this victory over the Foxes very important for the morale of the playing group.

Rodriguez told southamptonfc: "It was very good.

"Three goals and a clean sheet – you can't ask for more really from the lads. It's a good result going into the game on Wednesday now.

"I think there were good moments in the first half. We looked dangerous and we looked solid at the back. We got the two goals, which was important.

"First half was good and second half they changed formation, which made it difficult for us, but I thought we dealt with it well.

"I thought we kept the ball well, we were happy to get the third and that was that.

"It's important to get the confidence and the feel-good factor of winning.

"We know we've got a tough game now against Liverpool at their place, and we want to get to the final, which would be massive for us."
