Former FC Zurich defender Ljubo Milicevic has signed with Victorian Premier League club South Melbourne.

Milicevic joins South as a free agent after his release from Newcastle Jets, of the A-League, at the end of last season.

The defender had spent time in Europe after parting ways with the Jets, but is now set to play in the local state league comp in Melbourne.

Milicevic is a former Australia international and Champions League player.
