South Korea's Koo plans to bring attacking nous to Mainz

Koo Ja-cheol is planning to bring attacking prowess as well as plenty of hard work to new club FSV Mainz.

The 24-year old South Korean midfielder joined die Nullfunfer from VfL Wolfsburg on a four-and-a-half-year deal on the weekend and is looking to bring with him the attributes that have helped him score 12 international goals in 34 appearances for the Taeguk Warriors.

"I heard a lot about Mainz 05 from my national teammate Park Joo-ho, so I've long wanted to come to Mainz," said the former Jeju United ace.

"I'm confident about making shots on goal and I prefer to play as an attacking midfielder. I'm also confident about my work rate. I can run a lot and contribute to defense to help my teammates out."

Koo is expected to make his Mainz debut when the ninth-placed Bundesliga club travel to 10th-placed Stuttgart on Saturday upon the resumption of the German top flight from its midseason break.
