Souness: Rooney happier under Allardyce at Everton than Mourinho

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness feels Wayne Rooney is happier at Everton under Sam Allardyce than he was last season with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.

Rooney has scored 11 goals in 26 games in all competitions for Everton this season since rejoining the club last summer.

“Yeah he's scoring goals, he's always done that," said Souness.

“At 32 he's not going to have the same youthful legs, he won't be able to get around the park.

“I mean he's got so many good qualities, he alone can win a game for you.

“I don't see him starting every game, I think he will look after him in that respect.

“He has a big part to play when the 90 minutes come along. He has an equally as big a part to play in and around the football club.

“He's done everything in the game, he's a record holder in so many areas. When you're a manager you're looking for someone to be a role model."
