Former Liverpool boss Graeme Souness fears the club could be forced to sell Fernando Torres over their Champions League failure.
Souness is worried it could put the club under pressure to sell the club's star striker.
"It might be out of their hands if they are that far behind that it looks like they might not be able to qualify for the Champions League next year," he said.
"That's where the money is, that's where the best players all want to be.
"The banks might turn round and put pressure on the owners and say, 'Listen you've got to get rid of these debts' and Torres would fetch what, £50m or £60m?"
