Souness: Chelsea or Man Utd will miss top four

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness can see Manchester United missing out on a top four finish.

With Manchester City storming to the Premier League title, United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are battling to secure Champions League football for next season.

“Fourth place is now between them [Chelsea] and United," Souness wrote in the Sunday Times.

Jose Mourinho's side must be looking over their shoulders, given the way they are playing compared to Liverpool and Tottenham. I reckon Tottenham and Liverpool will get there and United will need to hold off Chelsea to finish fourth.

“City can win the Champions League as well as the Premier League. They are brushing opponents aside for fun, although I wouldn't read too much into their 4-0 win in Basel.

“It could even be an all-England final because Tottenham were impressive against Juventus in Turin.

Liverpool also produced an excellent performance to win 5-0 at Porto, but you are never quite sure which Liverpool will turn up.

“We saw both sides of them against Tottenham at Anfield, fabulous in the first half, but they couldn't keep the ball in the second and were constantly under threat.

“Bigger challenges lie ahead for Liverpool, but for Chelsea they don't come much bigger than Barcelona this week."
