Chievo Verona goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino plans to stay with the club into his 40's.
The 32-year-old shot-stopper has been a consistent and reliable figure in between the sticks for the Mussi Volanti.
"In a week I will turn 33. I think that it is right to then think ahead with a permanent plan. When the Palermo option from last summer closed, the President asked if I would sign for 10 years.
"I said that 10 years was too much - at 43 I would risk making a fool of myself. But, I would be prepared to sign until I am 40.
"At least, that is my ambition today. There are sirens that can distract me, but I hope to finish my career here.""Yes, I think now I would stay forever," reflected Sorrentino to L'Arena. "I would definitely not want to return to my past and I do not like to look back.
