Roma have confirmed an offer has been made for the club.

"Yesterday a representative given this charge by Compagnia Italpetroli S.p.a was visited by a representative of someone potentially interested in buying up the shares of AS Roma," read an official statement.

Italpetroli are the company founded in the 1960s by President Franco Sensi and are the majority shareholders in Roma.

American billionaire George Soros is reported to be the man behind the takeover bid.
