Song was a leader at Arsenal but not at Barcelona - ex-Liverpool defender cousin

Rigobert Song says his cousin Alex Song is unhappy at Barcelona due to the lack of responsibility he has been given.

The former Arsenal midfielder has started just 12 times in the league since his summer move from North London and ex-Liverpool, West Ham United and Galatasaray defender Rigobert feels he needs more to keep him happy at the Nou Camp.

"Alex is not happy [at Barcelona]; at Arsenal he was a leader on and off the field, he doesn't feel like the protagonist in Spain, it makes him feel bad," former Cameroon international Song told Calciomercato.

"He still has a long contract, until 2017. I do not think moving away is the right choice. All players want to play all the time but in Barcelona it is not easy."

He added: "Alex must have patience. His time will come because he has the qualities to do well."
