Nedo Sonetti is confident of lifting Cagliari away from the relegation zone after being appointed as new coach this week.
"We are looking to secure survival, but next year we will have bigger aims.
"We are bottom, but with four other sides and there are another six or seven that could be fighting to the wire for safety.
"I came into a depressed atmosphere as is normal when a boss leaves, but we are ready to respond."
He added: "I'll have to see what's best for the players I have at my disposal.
"The same goes for reinforcements - we will have to see what is needed.
"There's time to work and the change needs to be made in the head rather than the legs."
