Newcastle United reserves coach Peter Beardsley believes Greg McDermott can make it at the Toon.
McDermott has a chance of making the Toon squad for the trip to Liverpool, where his father Terry is classed as a true Anfield legend.
Another former Toon and Liverpool legend Beardsley told the Evening Chronicle: "The big plus for me is Greg McDermott.
"He played centre-back and it looked like he had played there all of his life.
"He was outstanding. I said to him at the end 'you have to stop giving the ball away.'
"I was joking, though, as he never lost it once. He was fantastic."
