Solskjaer: Who has best kids - Man Utd or Arsenal?

Manchester United reserves coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has cooled talk of a rivalry with Arsenal over which club produces the best youngsters.

Solskjaer told the Manchester Evening News: "We all like a challenge. I think it is important to see young kids come through wherever they are playing.

"All I know from our perspective is that the quality is there.

"There are huge demands on players at United, but I think there are loads in the Under-16s and Under-18s and the reserve teams who we will see play in the first team.

"It is not like they won't get a chance here. It is the tradition and we have some great players coming through who will keep that tradition going.

"Ours was a different scenario on Tuesday. Had we been playing a Championship side maybe we would have played more young players. We would not be afraid of putting a lot more in against a Championship team.

"But the manager knew Middlesbrough were going to play a full-strength team."

Last season, however, the Reds boss did plunge an almost full XI in against Coventry and United were knocked-out 2-0 at Old Trafford.

"There is nothing wrong with the talent coming through here and I don't think there was even anything wrong last season," Ole added.

"You cannot put the blame solely on their shoulders. Maybe against Coventry they weren't prepared properly. Coaches can also take the blame."
