Solomon Islands ace Totori joins Wellington Phoenix

Wellington Phoenix have secured the services of Solomon Islands international Benjamin Totori.

The 26-year old striker starred at the recent Oceania Football Confederation Nations Cup in his homeland, scoring four goals as the Solomon Islands finished fourth behind New Zealand, New Caledonia and tournament winners Tahiti.

Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert, who also manages the All Whites, saw Totori firsthand at the OFC Nations Cup and has decided to sign the excitement machine on a one-year deal from Honiara-based club Koloale.

"Benji is an exciting player and he will be good not only for us but the league as well," Herbert said.

"He has real pace, good close control and a powerful shot in both feet.

"I am looking forward to working with him and he will give us a different dimension."
